Behind the Scenes

Dear Readers, I feel I must apologise for the neglect of my blog in recent months, I actually moved into styling as a full time profession and so have been a busy bee with not much time to attend the blogger functions I get invited to. I have a new website now where you can view my work so this blog will be used as a place to show my behind the scenes snaps and what is going on in the crazy world of fashion.  You can see all my recent published work here - http://zoehancockstylist.com
Here is a selection of my badly taken photos, some from some old shoots and some that are yet to be published. Hope you like them :)

The amazing Fane wearing shirt by To Be Adorned and skirt by Paul&Joe Sister. Water melon necklace by the wonderful Gwen Riley Jones of Jones Street studio.

Here is super cutie Antonia wearing killer boots by Natasha Sommerville and latex heart eyepatch  by Atsuko Kudo.

VOGUE FASHION NIGHT OUT IN MANCHESTER

I was asked by Vogue to blog about their Fashion Night Out which arrived in style last Thursday onto the streets and in the shops of Manchester. Originally invented by Anna Wintour in 2009 to encourage shoppers to support the fashion industry in these grim economic times it has since been held all around the world. As this is the first year it has graced Manchester, it felt very special to be involved, the atmosphere was brilliant with so many people out wearing all manner of outfits it was quite a spectacle to behold!

First stop was The Chinese Arts centre and their ReForm design show which included this corset by recent Manchester graduate Sophie Ho. We then went downstairs to a jewellery workshop hosted by Julia Roy-Williams of Wonderhaus and made my very own bright pink perspex bangle. The third photo is of my very lovely and talented friend Lydia Meiying who is an illustrator and surface pattern designer, Lydia has brilliant wares for sale in the Chinese Arts Centre and at her website http://www.hellomeiying.com.

We then went onto Topshop where Kate Phelan was giving a talk about key pieces for the next season. I was impressed with Kate's polished appearance and how she had combined black trousers with some simple pumps and looked so effortless and chic. The crowd were an extremely fashion conscious lot and it was great to see how much effort everyone had made.

We went onto Selfridges and Harvey Nichols and consumed many freebies including mini hotdogs, alcoholic snow cones, sweets, truffles, popcorn and champagne. Harvey Nichols had little huts containing real life designers such as Sophia Webster, Roksanda Ilinic and er Jamie from Made in Chelsea where you could get your FNO t-shirt customised and the icing on the cake -  a free pick and mix station. I spotted model of the moment Sam Rollinson and had to refrain from asking her to test shoot with me.

The highlight of the evening was meeting the lovely Christopher Kane who was walking past with Jonathan Saunders, he very kindly agreed to have his picture taken with me and asked me about my snow cone!!!

Adidas Originals blue launch

Last week I was invited to attend a one off print making workshop at Urban Outfitters in Manchester to celebrate their collaboration with adidas Originals blue SS13 collection which they will be stocking. As a massive lover of print and pattern they didnt need to ask twice. Above are my favourite pieces from the collection, I really loved the flame print and cut of the shirts and jackets, which have a very 90s aesthetic combined with quality tailoring. Last photo is my cheeseball self holding my print which I was told was actually perfect go me! I will definitely be buying the slip on sandals when they arrive in store to be worn with socks bien sur!

Sistersaurus for Material Girl

I am proud to post the final shots from my shoot for my favourite magazine - Material Girl's Winter issue which is available to purchase NOW! I think going to the zoo is the most fun you can possibly have on a shoot and we had an awesome time in sunny Blackpool :) We decided on a Geeky sisters day out theme and I borrowed garments from the amazing Hannah Harrison, Lily Stodel and Claire Rushby. Inspiration came from Wes Anderson's films and Venetia Scott's beautiful styling and photography. Sophie and Evie were brilliant models and performed an amazing piggyback pose which was a lot more difficult than it appears!

Irish Times - The Story of WHY?

I recently styled a commercial for the Irish Times newspaper which is currently running on TV and in cinemas in Ireland. The story is a Mini Odyssey of the history of The Irish Times Newspaper. This involves an inquisitive journalist who goes on an adventure through his office wall (John Malkovich style) encountering many different scenarios along the way. High point was dressing the English, Irish and Scotsman and filming the riot scene with real molotov cocktails.

For more information about the film and the Irish Times see the below link;

Liliyang AW2012 Look Book

I was excited to be asked to style the AW look book for Luxury accessory brand Liliyang London. The brief was fairytale and the setting - a woods full of bluebells on a rainy day in the Kent countryside. I loaned garments from designer Julie Yeung who was selected by VOGUE Italia as a New Talent in October 2011, 'Julie Yeung is a luxury womenswear designer who constantly seeks to fuse haute couture craftsmanship with modern innovation to achieve a contemporary and refined aesthetic within her designs.' I knew that the beautiful jewel colored silks Julie used and the elegant cut of the clothing would be a perfect backdrop to the luxuriousness of the Liliyang bags. The yellow dress also reminded me of Snow White and the red hooded outfit made our model Asa into a high fashion red riding hood. I also need to mention Asa is an illustrator and has recently had her wall paper featured in Vogue - http://asawikmanartwork.blogspot.co.uk/

Motherland

Here are my favourite shots from our editorial Motherland which I am very proud to say has been featured on Pet Fan Club - Material Girls blog. We went to Helen's hometown of Bury on the windiest day of the year but had a really fun day climbing hills and getting washed up by the river. I loaned the beautiful garments from London designer Jaqueline Loekito - http://www.artsthread.com/viewer/graduate_portfolio?p=3779 who has worked with my favourite designers Meadham Kirchoff and is destined for greatness.

She's a Wildflower

Final shots from our test with the gorgeous Daiana @ FM. We travelled to RS Wisley for a fun day in the sun using their amazing floral displays as backdrops. I borrowed garments from Sophie Davison featured in the 2nd -6th shots and Raffaelle Ascione  (7th-15th) both of which are rising stars in the fashion world and names to look out for. Highlight of the day was using Temi's portable changing booth and having afternoon tea at the cafe, low point was trying to dissemble the pop up booth afterwards!
